Janine's candle guide
Trim the wick down to a maximum of 1/4 of an inch after each burn. The initial burn is the most important as it sets the memory of the candle and avoids tunnelling. This will stop the flame from smoking and gives a much longer life to your candle. If your candle does give off sooty smoke, extinguish it and trim the wick before lighting it again.
Do not let candles burn in a draughty area or close to a heat source as this will cause the flame to move, smoke and burn unevenly.
Place candles on level surfaces that will not burn & will not be damaged by slight heat (from the glass), and keep them away from flammable materials such as curtains and blinds.

Lighting the candle
Use a long candle lighter or good quality long matches and extinguisher to light and put out your candles to avoid burning your fingers.
Each time the candle is extinguished, remove the charred pieces of wick, when cold it will break off, remove remains of matches and other impurities, from the melted wax round the wick.
The Great Debate amongst Candle makers
One of the most talked about subjects of Soy candles is their ability to burn clean when measured against Paraffin candles.
For those who rarely burn scented candles in their homes, a cleaner burning candle may not mean that much to you, but to regular candle users, those who have been troubled by the black left around the jar tops and the gray, sooty residue left behind on walls, blinds, curtains and furnishings, a candle that produces considerably less or no soot is an astounding breakthrough.
So why do Paraffin candles produce soot while Soy candles don't?
Soot is the solid particle that results from incomplete combustion of carbon material containing fuels, primarily petroleum based fuels. This is called petro-carbon soot which is not found in Soy wax.
Soy wax is completely petro-carbon soot free!. Soy candles produce zero amounts of petro-soot rather than traditional candles made from paraffin. Lower soot levels help maintain pure air quality and will not give you a bad chest along with household maintenance problems associated with soot deposits.
Soy wax has given customers the ability to burn clean, burning, home made scented candles from sustainable renewable sources.
Farmers have a rapidly growing new market. Soy wax is the first wax innovation in the candle industry in over a 100 years and is rapidly becoming the candle industry standard for the twenty first century. We pride ourselves in making renewable candles and offer an extensive range of Soy wax candles.
Which home scented candle would you rather have burning in your home?
Keep in mind the only completely soot free candle flame is a natural gas flame. This flame is completely blue in nature and has what is called a complete combustion.
Can we get a candle flame to combust completely? Well, almost. Candle Flames, wood burning fire places, all have incomplete combustion which produce soot, but the good news is it is not the toxic black petro carbon soot that you find in petroleum based candles.
Other Benefits Of Soy Vs Paraffin Candles
Soy wax candles generally burn longer than Paraffin candles.
Soy wax is derived from natural vegetables while Paraffin is a refined gasoline by-product.
Soy wax is 100% biodegradable while Paraffin was is not.
Soy wax spills clean up simply with soap and water while Paraffin wax spills are very time consuming and extremely difficult to completely clean up if at all.
Soy wax releases fragrance easier than Paraffin candles.
